  • Martin was a socially awkward child — often electing to stay inside and draw rather than go out with friends.
  • His inspiration to draw came from classic films and the toy soldiers he played with.
  • Wally has leapt out of the pages and now appears on notebooks, pillows, posters, and video games.
  • According to his publishers, Handford is a shy creative genius who is very dedicated to his work and has no interest in publicity.
